The newly forming Texas Equine Rescue League would appreciate all you established rescues giving us an estimate for the cost of rehabilitation per horse. What do we need to consider in establishing this amount? Thank you! Here in Maryland the average cost per horse is $500/month for the first few months. This includes vet, farrier, worming, bedding, shots, etc. The cost is slightly less if the horse has feet problems but not starvation, Except Founder Cases!!!, which often run even more. For purposes of comparison, we calculate the average cost per horse for an average, normal horse at $150 per month. Have you looked at the info on Guidelines for Establishing a Non-Profit Horse Rescue Organization that Days End published in 1996? We wrote it to help others be successful at establishing their own rescue facilities. Cost is $100, and for more info check out the Days End website. It includes tons of forms and useful guidance. Much success to TERL! Cris May Days End Farm Horse Rescue http://www.geocities.com/heartland/6768 ============================================================
